Biomedical characteristics of silicon rubber☆

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To comprehensively analyze the application values of silicon rubber in the design of artificial organs, medical apparatus, facial plastic surgery and medical release system.

DATA SOURCES : Computer-based online search of EI, SCI, CA, Science Direct (Elsevier) databases were undertaken for articles about the application of silicon rubber in medicine published in English between January 2000 and December 2004 with the key words of “silicon rubber, medical materials”. Meanwhile, we searched the Chinese Periodical Full-text Database for related Chinese articles published between January 1995 and August 2006 with the key words of “silicon rubber, artificial organ, facial plastic surgery, rubber apparatus” in Chinese.

STUDY SELECTION :The data were firstly selected to look up the full text of the articles met the criteria. Inclusive criteria: ①about medicinal silicon rubber; ②about medicinal rubber apparatus, artificial organ and facial plastic surgery. Exclusive criteria: repetitive studies.

DATA EXTRACTION : Totally 109 relevant articles about the medicinal rubber materials were collected; after excluding the repetitive or similar researches, 19 articles met the request.

DATA SYNTHESIS:①Artificial organs: research and design of the artificial lungs, retina, larynx, finger, joint, tympanum, teeth, jaw, windpipe, catheter and breast. ②Plastic and repair surgery: repair of cranium and studies into artificial skin. ③Medicinal apparatus: artificial heart and lung, tip of embryo attractor, medical electroplate, bio-sensor and so on. ④Carrier with medical release: medical capsule, releasing prophylactic stick with implanting skin, uterus implanting agent, vagina ring and so on. ⑤ Research and expectation of medicinal silicon rubber: To offer more medicinal apparatus and artificial organs.

CONCLUSION:Medical silicon rubber can be used to design and produce more cheap artificial organs and medicinal apparatus, and make more materials be applied in clinic to satisfy the demand of many patients.

摘要
目的:综合分析硅橡胶在人造器官设计、医疗器械、整容术和在药物缓释体系的应用意义。
资料来源:应用计算机检索“EI,SCI,CA,Science Direct (Elsevier)”等数据库2000-01/2004-12有关硅橡胶在医学方面应用的文献,检索词“silicon rubber,medical materials”,限定语言种类为English。同时计算机检索中国期刊全文数据库、万方数据1995-01/2006-08 有关硅橡胶在医学方面应用的文献,检索词“硅橡胶,人造器官,整容术,橡胶器械”,限定语言种类为中文。
资料选择:对资料进行初审,选取符合要求的文献查找全文。纳入标准:①有关医用硅橡胶方面的研究。②有关医用橡胶器械、人造器官和整容术的研究。排除标准:重复研究。
资料提炼:共收集到109篇有关医用橡胶材料的文章,排除重复或类似研究,19篇符合要求。
资料综合:①人造器官研究:人工肺、视网膜、喉头、手指、关节、鼓膜、牙齿、下颌、气管、导管和乳房等研究及设计。②整容和修复研究:颅骨的修复和人造皮肤研究等。③医疗器械研究:人工心肺机、胎儿吸引器的吸头、医用电极板、生物传感器等。④药物缓释的载体:药物胶囊、皮下埋置剂、子宫植入剂、阴道环等。⑤医用硅橡胶研究展望:提供更多医用器械和人造器官。
结论:应用医用硅橡胶能够设计和制造出价格低廉的人造器官和医疗器械,使更多的医用材料投入临床应用,以满足广大患者的需要。
